dc.description.abstract | Purpose: To explore Registered Nurse’s experiences, understanding and perceptions of Computerised Decision Support Systems in the hospital ward setting. Primary Objectives: To explore how registered nurses use CDSS when decision making and the relationship between CDSS and clinical reasoning in clinical practice. Secondary Objectives: To understand how CDSS are introduced to Registered Nurses in a hospital ward setting. To explore barriers and facilitators to applying a CDSS to patient care in order to inform potential intervention(s). Research Protocol and Methods: This study has been designed as a pilot study. The findings of this study and the evaluation on the methods used for this study will inform a PhD Research Proposal for a larger study. A virtual, one to one, semi-structured interviews was used to explore the expectations, perceptions and experience of Registered Nurses using Computerised Decision Support Technologies. The findings were evaluated using thematic analysis. An inductive approach to data analysis was used (Braun and Clarke, 2006). This is anticipated to result in a rich understanding of the nurse’s experience of working with such technologies. | en_UK |
