PPD Assessment

Progression from GEM year 1 to year 2 in the PPD modules requires submission of a competent portfolio. This includes the presence of required components:Reflective coursework with mark sheet

  • Action plans from meetings with your Personal tutor (at least one per term signed by Personal Tutor)
  • Weekly self-assessment sheets (or overall module review)
  • Feedback sheets from successful clinical skills examinations
  • GP visit logs
  • GP tutor assessments
  • Patient narrative essay
  • Basic Emergency Care Certificate
  • Results from BCS formative assessments
  • Drug reviews and feedback sheets x 2
  • MPS / MDU Certificate
  • Learning Contract
  • Portfolio analysis essay
  • Evidence of registration with local GP

Progression from GEM year 2 to CP2 in the PPD modules requires successful submission of an updated portfolio. This includes the presence of the above required components and in addition:

  • ethics essay and mark sheetdisability essay and mark sheet
  • poster abstract and assessment sheet from Shared Family Study project
  • Occupation Health Certificate of Immunity
  • action plans from personal tutor meetings (at least two from year 2 signed by personal tutor – final one on specific end of GEM action plan form)

All pieces of PPD coursework will contribute to the overall grade in each module. Mark compensation between pieces of work will be allowed.

  • Students must achieve 40% or more of the possible PPD marks in year 1 to progress to year 2. Resubmission of appropriate pieces of coursework will be required at the end of year 1 if the pass mark is not achieved. A competent overall grade must be obtained before progression to year 2 is allowed.
  • Students must achieve 40% or more of the possible PPD marks in year 2 to progress to CP2. Resubmission of appropriate pieces of coursework will be required at the end of GEM year 2 if the pass mark is not achieved. An acceptable overall grade must be obtained before progression to clinical practice is allowed.
