Richard joined the School of Economics in 1998 as a Research Fellow, became a Lecturer in August 2001 and was promoted to Associate Professor in August 2004. He is a Research Fellow in the Leverhulme Centre for Research on Globalisation and Economic Policy, and his current work for the Centre relates to structural adjustment in UK and foreign labour markets, covering sectoral mobility and unemployment durations. Before coming to Nottingham, he worked as a Research Associate in the economics department at Manchester University, where he also completed his Ph.D. His research interests are primarily in applied labour economics and applied microeconometrics. His recent work includes papers on linked employer-employee data, employer search and matching, labour mobility and unemployment.
