Nematode surface chemistry dataset
Description
This dataset contains surface chemistry profiles of wild-type Caenorhabditis elegans (N2) and Pristionchus pacificus (PS312), along with their respective daf-22 mutant strains (C. elegans DR476 and P. pacificus RS2770/RS5204), each captured in biological replicates (n = 9). Data were collected using 3D-OrbiSIMS mass spectrometry with an argon gas cluster ion beam (Ar3000+, 20 keV) for surface sputtering and an Orbitrap analyser for high-resolution detection (mass resolving power >240,000 at m/z 200). Surface analysis was confined to the outermost ~50 nm, enabling detailed profiling of species-specific and developmentally regulated lipid compositions. This dataset supports research into nematode physiology, lipid metabolism, and interspecies interactions.
