This resource presents the module handbook for The Theory and Practice of Diplomacy module.
Overview of Module:
This module focuses on the changing nature of diplomatic
practice, together with the range of conceptual tools that seek to explain this
international activity. Its focus is contemporary. It provides a political
analysis of new developments such as the public diplomacy, the decline of
resident embassies and foreign ministries, and the role of
regional/multinational organisations and summitry. It also encourages students
to consider future theoretical and practical developments in this field.

Method and Frequency of Class: 1 x 1 hour seminar per week, 1 x 1 hour lecture per week
Target Students: MA Diplomacy students have priority. Available to JYA/Erasmus students.
There is a limited number of places on this module. Students are reminded that
enrolments which are not agreed by the Offering School in advance may be
cancelled without notice.
