Writing-up for publication
When you are well on with your project, or after you have finished, you may wish to discuss with your supervisor the possibility of writing-up for publication.
The intellectual property of the dissertation remains yours. Publications are usually produced in collaboration with supervisors and other major contributors to the work, for example, statistical advisers and people in the place where the research was done. By mutual agreement, the main author is usually the student, provided that the field-work, analysis and writing of first drafts of publications are mainly the student’s. There are now many examples of successful publications directly related to project work, and there is no doubt that your work will be more widely disseminated if you do so. Have a break and then find time to do it!
