Reading around your project topic
Once you have decided on the project you wish to undertake you will need to read around your specific topic. You need to demonstrate that you understand the current state of knowledge and have used a rigorous approach to identifying relevant texts. Material needs to be up-to-date and from high quality, peer reviewed sources where possible.
The Internet, if used with discrimination, can yield a wealth of useful information, for example, evidence from systematic reviews can be found in the Cochrane Library (http://www.cochrane.org/) and the National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence (http://www.nice.org.uk/).
However, don't rely on electronic material alone: books and hard copies of material should also be used.
