Modules to follow

While developing your protocol you need to consider which modules will prepare you for the work involved in the conduct of the project. If you decide to do the following types of projects you should register for the optional modules as shown:

  • a secondary analysis of an existing data set:

you must register for the more advanced statistics course or courses. These are compulsory for Applied Epidemiology students, and offered as part of the Optional Module programme to other students. They are taught on Tuesdays throughout Semester 2 (only available to those who have passed Basic Statistics at the first attempt)

  • an economic evaluation:

you should register for the 10 credit Health Economics module offered as part of the Optional Module programme in Semester 2

  • a qualitative approach:
bear in mind the limited capacity of the Division to supervise qualitative work. A 10 credit Qualitative Research Methods Module is offered as part of the Optional Module programme. If this does not run then you need to consider the qualitative research modules available in other Divisions: see the University Module Catalogue, http://winster.nottingham.ac.uk/modulecatalogue/
